Binder Team Member 

Description: Are you passionate about helping the Trans community and want to impact the lives of those who are in need of our help? You would make a great Binder Team Member for Genderbands! We are looking for an energetic and organized volunteer to assist with our Binder Program. You will have the opportunity to take part in sending free binders to those in need. 


There are multiple positions available for binder team members, below are some of the responsibilities. Let us know which ones you’re interested in. (processing, packaging, emails, & testimonials)


Processing Job Responsibilities (Remote)


  • Track application progress

  • Size and assign a binder

  • Send initial emails to applicants to verify information

  • Email international binder recipients when their binders are shipped

  • Communicate with other volunteers and Binder Director via Slack and email

  • Provide weekly updates of volunteer work in Slack

  • Track hours independently using Homebase



Packaging Job Responsibilities (IN PERSON)


  • Package binder and adjust inventory

  • Log incoming binders

  • Create shipping labels

  • Fill out customs forms

  • Provide weekly updates of volunteer work in Slack

  • Take packages to post office

  • Communicate with Binder Director and other volunteers on Slack

  • Track hours independently using Homebase



Emailing Job Responsibilities (Remote)


  • Request applicant information via email

  • Answer incoming emails

  • Email waitlisted applicants

  • Follow up on non-responsive applicants

  • Update applicant information according to emails

  • Provide weekly updates of volunteer work in Slack

  • Communicate with other volunteers and Binder Director on Slack

  • Track hours independently using Homebase



Testimonials Job Responsibilities Remote)


  • Email binder recipients, asking for testimonials and pictures

  • Log testimonials and pictures on the Google Drive

  • Contact Social Media Director with finished testimonials 

  • Provide weekly updates of volunteer work in Slack

  • Communicate with other volunteers and Binder Director on Slack

  • Track hours independently using Homebase



Benefits

  • Work from home! Processing, Emails, and Testimonials are remote positions. The successful candidate can work from home or from another location with Internet access to complete most of their duties. Packaging will need to come in person to our office in Orem. 

  • Online Training: Learn when it’s convenient for you.

  • Flexible schedule; an average of 5-10 hours per week, the time can vary depending on your availability



Requirements

  • 5-10 hours per week, flexible schedule

  • Must wear a mask at all Genderbands in-person meetings and events, regardless of vaccination status or whether the event is indoors or outdoors

  • Able to use own computer/device to complete work (computer will not be provided for you)

  • For Packaging position, have reliable transportation (transportation will not be provided or reimbursed).

  • Familiar with Google Drive and Slack, or willing to learn

  • Zoom installed on work device

  • Able to read, write, and speak English fluently

  • Outstanding communication skills, patience, and ability to work well with others

  • Passion for Genderbands’ mission of helping transgender people pay for transition-related costs
